The EAGLE SG Delivers a World Class Performance

Thirty-one countries from around the Globe came together for the 26th Annual NAVIGA R/C Boating World Championships held in Belchatow, Poland. Countries as far spaced as China, Australia, Norway, South Africa and Russia sent their best on a journey and a chance to be titled as World Champion. Among the world's toughest competitors, Andy Brown and Alan Hobbs represented USA.

The racing was very intense to say the least. Normally, each contestant must qualify in their country to be able to compete at the Worlds. There are four rounds of qualifying, then the top eight competitors race an eight boat heat another four rounds. The winner with the most accumulative points goes home with the honor of being the 2002 NAVIGA World Champion.

Andy Brown and CMD Racing Products put on a spectacular show at this years world renowned Regatta. The Eagle SG dominated the world class outrigger events by winning an undisputed seven out of 9 metals awarded.

Our own Andy Brown, emerged as the 45 Hydro World Champion running the MAC 45 and the 2002 Eagle SGX. The competition was stiff, but with consistent top finishes, and conservative driving, Andy brought home the Gold!

Andy was joined in the winners circle with several other Eagle SG owners. As a matter of fact, the Eagle SG swept the outrigger classes by bringing home top honors for Kjell Noddleland of Norway in 3.5cc Hydro and Anders Martinelle of Sweden in 15cc Hydro.

Anders Martinelle is always a top contender among the Scandinavian countries and has been many times the Scandinavian Champion. Anders has also competed and was trophy winner at the Orlando Winter Nationals in Florida with his MAC 45 powered Eagle SG.

CMDI congratulates Anders for his Big win at the 2002 NAVIGA World Champs.

The President of NAMBA (North American Model Boat Association), Alan Hobbs, brought home the Silver for the US with a strong and consistent effort in the 15cc Outrigger class. Alan can be credited with beginning the effort of bringing the sport of R/C boat racing competition to the main stream by engaging in the aggressive advertising of NAMBA and it's racing organization in the Boat Modeler magazine.

Norway was pleased with the efforts of its hometown favorite, Kjell Noddleland. Kjell captured the Gold in 3.5cc Outrigger class. His boat is shown at left ripping through the water at an estimated 70 mph. Kjell received a Bronze in 15cc Outrigger with his .90 SG as well.

Among additional medalists, Tore Hilde (pictured to left) also from Norway, brought home a Silver medal with his MAC 21 powered Eagle SG, and Marten Lawrence (pictured to right) of Great Britain followed with the Bronze metal, also with the MAC/SG combo.

Honorable mention goes to Mickael Perttula of Sweden who won the qualifying rounds in 15cc Hydro with a perfect score only to have mechanical failure in the final rounds of racing. Mickael is a very precise driver and puts his Eagle SG 90 on the buoys with amazing consistency. Mickael has been many times a NAVIGA World Champion.

Congratulations to all of the competitors at this years World Championships. The competition was fierce and we considered it an honor and a privilege to compete amongst such distinguished competitors.
